Harmonized requirements in Europe, the EAEU, USA and APAC (ROW)
As a result of global sales activities and the wide range of different mechanical and electrical products, a number of regulations must be observed around the world.
Schenck Process FPM provides plant designers and operators with important advice and support in relation to project planning their equipment. Below you will find a selection of the most important regulations.
Europe
The European Directives serve to standardize statutory requirements within Europe. This harmonization has eliminated obstacles to trade in all areas within the EU.
Depending on the product, one or more of the following Directives may apply. The most important European Directives for Schenck Process FPM products are:

Depending on the product, other directives not listed above may also be applicable.
Overviews of harmonized standards are provided in the Official Journal of the European Union for virtually all European Directives. A “presumption of conformity” results from the application of the harmonized standards, i.e. it can be assumed that the main requirements of the applicable directive (e.g. ATEX Equipment Directive) are met.
Most electrical and mechanical devices / operating equipment have an EU-type examination certificate for use in areas at risk of explosion. Some other mechanical category 2 or 3 devices and some electrical category 3 operating equipment are available with EU declarations of conformity for use in areas at risk of explosion. Other certificates are available in accordance with the Measuring Instruments Directive and Non-automatic Weighing Instruments Directive.
Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) (Belarus, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Kyrgyzstan)
A system of directives, comparable with the EU, has been introduced in the EAEU in recent years.

All devices and operating equipment which fall under the above regulations require an EAC certificate. Complete machines and individual components can be supplied with EAC certification.
USA
Electrical operating equipment must comply with North American requirements and appropriate certification is sometimes needed.
Rest of the world (ROW)
Unless national requirements are made known and unless expressly agreed otherwise, the machines are produced in line with the European Directives. IECEx certificates may be available in place of ATEX certificates for electrical operating equipment in areas at risk of explosion.
